Root Canals

A root canal is a procedure in which the nerve of the tooth is removed when it becomes infected.

Typically completed in one or two appointments, the dentist removes the nerve, cleans out the area of any debris and fills the canal system with a soft material to seal it.  To restore the natural look of the tooth, a filling is then placed as well.  In some situations, the tooth may susceptible to fracture and you may be advised to consider a porcelain crown after root canal treatment to prevent the tooth from breaking.
